14 DAY TRIAL // Indie Royale, the website that offers various bundles of great independent games, has just deployed the Serious Sam Lightning pack, the first in a series of smaller bundles that focus only on specific games and are available for just a few days.
Indie Royale has already made a popular name for itself by offering a variety of bundles and special deals in much quicker succession than other such services, like the Humble Indie Bundle.
After the impressive New Year’s deal, it seemed that bargain hunters would have to wait until the following month for the Valentine’s bundle. That’s not so, as Indie Royale has decided to run the first of its Lightning bundles, which focus on specific games and are available for only 100 hours.
The first of such deals is the Serious Sam Lightning Pack, which consists of six Serious Sam games, some developed by the creators of the series, Croteam, while others were delivered by various independent studios.
The games include the first two titles in the series, Serious Sam: The First Encounter and The Second Encounter, as well as indie spinoffs like The Random Encounter, Double D, Kamikaze Attack, and The Greek Encounter.

Serious Sam: The Random Encounter - Of the previously available titles in the bundle, The Random Encounter -- available on PC as a DRM-free download, on Steam, and on Desura -- is a refreshing take on the RPG genre, developed by acclaimed indie developer Vlambeer (Super Crate Box, Ridiculous Fishing). Its gameplay is a clever pixelated hybrid of turn-based battles with real-time, run and gun offense and defense maneuvering. Serious Sam Double D - Also part of the pack, Double D is available on PC as a DRM-free download, on Steam, and on Desura, is a hand drawn, side-scrolling shooter featuring over-the-top gameplay and chaotic action from arcade-loving indie Mommy's Best Games (Weapon Of Choice, Explosionade). Serious Sam: Kamikaze Attack - Next, making an exclusive debut on PC in this Lightning Pack is a DRM-free download and Desura PC version of Serious Sam: Kamikaze Attack. Developer Be-Rad Entertainment's offering (originally available exclusively on smartphones) is a Canabalt-style action-platformer where players control the Headless Kamikaze enemy, striving to accomplish the bad guy's dream of blowing up the vile Serious Sam on every level. Serious Sam: The First Encounter, The Second Encounter - And as a special bonus, Croteam, the indie team who originated the Serious Sam franchise, offers the original The First Encounter and The Second Encounter games for PC, redeemable on Steam. These two original titles are packed with the arcade-action style first-person shooting that the Serious Sam series is known for, including gonzo single- and multi-player modes. Serious Sam: The Greek Encounter - Finally, we've decided to unleash our special bonus up front, as a world exclusive Indie Royale debut. The Greek Encounter is an 8-bit, top-down "demake" of Serious Sam, specially commissioned by Team Fortress Arcade and Halo/DJ Hero demake author Eric Ruth. It's available for PC as a DRM-free download and on Desura, and sees Serious Sam in ancient Greece battling the relentless hordes of Mental's army in an all-new retro 8-bit adventure. The same rules from previous Indie Bundles apply with the Serious Sam Lightning pack. Customers need to pay a minimum amount of money, which can go down if they pay more than the recommended price.
