HTC Incredible 2, one of the Android-based smartphones that Verizon Wireless is expected to make available to its customers as part of the DROID lineup, is reportedly headed to shelves on April 28th, when it would hit all retail channels.

The mobile phone, none other than the HTC Incredible S smartphone which was unveiled during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, has been long rumored to be on its way to Verizon, but no official confirmation on this emerged for the time being.

However, we already had the chance to take a look at leaked photos with the mobile phone, and to learn various info on its arrival, including the fact that it might be released on shelves with a price tag of $199 on contract.

Moreover, recent leaked info on the DROID Incredible 2 suggests that it might be launched on April 28th, although previous rumors pinned its released date to April 21st.

This not the first time we hear about the release of this device on April 28th, though it remains to be seen whether the rumor would indeed pan out or not.

In the meantime, we should have a look at another DROID device at Verizon, namely the original Incredible, which is reportedly set to receive an update to the Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system sometime in summer.

“I understand your concern about wanting to know when the Android 2.3 upgrade will be released for the HTC Incredible. I'm pleased to inform you that there is going to be an update this summer to Android 2.3 (Gingerbread),” HTC noted in an email to one of their Incredible users.

In all fairness, this is not official confirmation on the matter, but it does strongly suggest that we should expect for something more to be announced on it in the coming months.

Given the fact that the Incredible by HTC smartphone is no longer available for purchase through Verizon, it does come as good news that HTC was working on the said OS update.
