New challenge from Raven Software

Wolfenstein will be one of August's biggest titles, promising to take the classic id Software franchise from the 1990s and bring it to all of the current-generation platforms with upgraded graphics, enemies and gameplay.

But even though it will still appear in summer, it will have a tough opponent in the form of Electronic Arts' hugely anticipated Madden NFL 10 football simulator, which comes out tomorrow. Wolfenstein will be released next Monday, meaning that people will still be caught up in the magic of Madden.

Don't think that Raven Software, the studio that collaborated with id on the game, will sit idly though, as one of its designers, Manveer Heir, has issued a one-man challenge thanks to his Twitter account, which, if fans respond, might make him a poorer man altogether.

He revealed that if Wolfenstein managed to beat Madden 10 in terms of sales during the month of August, he would personally give back the money people paid for their copies of the first person shooter. “Here's the deal folks: if Wolfenstein outsells Madden 10 in August I will personally pay for your copy (keep your receipt) - SPREAD THE WORD,” Heir said on his Twitter account.

He then followed up his remark by saying a few things about the fantastic offer. The reimbursements will be made on an international level, and he will use the official NPD numbers in North America to see just how the two titles fared one against the other. Also, it would be good if you followed him on his Twitter account to stay in touch and see if you have or don't have to send him your receipts for Wolfenstein.

All in all, this endeavor is quite bold but, considering the huge sales that Madden will certainly experience in the United States, it might be quite pointless. However, let's hope that Wolfenstein will make it and we'll get a free game thanks to Heir.
