The slate provides access to ME App store and offers HCL Touch service

The Indian Android market is flooded with cheap smartphones and tablets. The latest entrance on the tablet market is called HCL ME Y2 and comes with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system out of the box.

Manufactured by HCL Infosystems, the tablet will soon go on sale in India for only Rs 14,999 (270 USD or 215 EUR) outright.

Besides its attractive price, the ICS-based tablet comes with 3G support and a built-in SIM slot, along with Wi-Fi connectivity.

This HCL’s third generation tablet and has been especially designed to suit the needs of the Indian customers. In this regard, the slate comes with Hungama Application, which includes a special offer for HCL ME Y2 customers allowing them to use it for free for three months.

Additionally, the slate comes with Bigflix, which offers unlimited streaming of movies for a month for just Rs. 1. It is also worth mentioning that HCL ME Y2 has the ThinkFree Office Mobile pre-installed, which enables users to create, view, edit or share Office documents.

It goes without saying the HCL tablet also has a plethora of useful apps, including LinkedIn, Twitter, 3D Digital Weather Clock, Games, Sweet’ N ‘Spicy, iBrowser, ICS Browser, Bollywood Hungama and Saavn.

Although the tablet does not provide access to Google Play store, users will be offered exclusive access to the ME App store which has over 15,000 apps.

Hardware-wise, HCL ME Y2 is with a 1 GHz single-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal memory and a 7-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports 1024 x 600 pixels resolution.

Last but not least, the slate will be supported by a dedicated back-up service dubbed HCL Touch. This is a 24x7 one-touch service facility.
