Chinese photographic accessories manufacturer, Shanghai Transvision announced in a recent press release their first lens made under the Handevision brand in collaboration with German IB/E Optics.
The IBELUX 40mm f/0.85 is world's fastest mirrorless camera lens and aims to bring an amazing image quality similar to Leica and Voigtlanders f/0.95 high-speed lenses.
The lens features a complex construction with 10 elements in 8 groups and has a weight of 1.2kg / 2.64lbs due to its full metallic body.
Having a fixed focal length of 40mm and featuring an amazingly fast aperture of f/0.85, this lens is ideal for artistic low-light photo sessions.
IBELUX 40mm f0.85 has a focusing range of 0.75m to infinity and will be manufactured for the Fuji X, Micro Four Thirds, Canon M and Sony NEX E-mount.
The lens will hit store shelves in Europe, North America, Japan and Russia on February 25, 2014 at a suggested retail price of $2,080 / €1,514.
The company's mission is to expand their current Handevision brand with high-grade lenses that feature a metallic construction and clean, aesthetic finish.
Shanghai Transvision also announced that they are currently working on a second lens called IBEGON that will have a wide-angle coverage.
In addition to that, the company has designed a high-speed telephoto APO mirror lens called IBECAT (for its lightweight construction, image sharpness and fast glass) aimed at the new Sony A7 and A7R full frame interchangeable-lens digital cameras.
Furthermore, Shanghai Transvision has plans to bring a new tilt-shift lens as well as a compact fixed lens under their new Handevision brand that will be compatible with future full frame mirrorless cameras.
It seems that 2014 will be a busy year for the mirrorless lens segment with many of the well-known manufacturers aiming to expand their lens lineup in order to meet the high market demand.
