Over the past months, many have speculated that Britney Spears was nowhere ready to continue adding more international dates for The Circus Starring Britney Spears Tour, and that the only reason she was doing so was because she was forced into it. The star is now addressing these rumors for the first time, saying that she is the only one who calls the shots regarding the tour, as ContactMusic can confirm.

Speaking with the media on the issue of whether it was her father Jamie or her manager Larry Rudolph who had made the decision to expand the tour on her behalf, Britney says it was all hers. Moreover, hitting the road has helped her find balance in her life again and, after a couple of very troubled years, happiness and peace, the singer reveals. In this sense, the Circus tour is nothing short of the cherry on top, since she now has almost everything she could desire in life.

“A lot of people thought I wouldn’t make it. People thought I was finished, didn’t they? I guess for a while last year it looked that way. Nothing I can do about the past. But I’m hoping to prove them wrong now. And I have really put everything I have into this new show.” Spears says, hitting back at claims that she’s been forced to do the tour for far longer than she would have wanted or was prepared for that matter.

Reconnecting with fans and being able to perform again has been a very positive, almost therapeutic experience for Britney, she further explains. She is now again back to her former self, enjoying life, and feeling the love and support of millions of fans around the world. Therefore, saying that father and “guardian” Jamie or manager Rudolph have forced her into more dates is ridiculous and quite a base gossip.

“I’m not sad any more. I was just so sad for such a long time, but not any more. And you know what? That feels really, really good. I’m happy. Truly. I feel like the girl who has it all. I have my family, my boys, my friends, my fans, this show.” Spears explains. However, several music-oriented magazines and blogs are pointing out, one thing that Britney Spears is forgetting is that, so far, critics have agreed on two things: that she seems to have forgotten how to dance like she used to once, and that she appears lost in the epicness that is Circus. Fans, on the other hand, are happy with how it turned out and, in the end, this is probably all that matters.
