Ubisoft has finally revealed some official details about I Am Alive, the long awaited survival game which was announced back in 2008, and is now scheduled to arrive on consoles as a downloadable title.

I Am Alive was presented as a new and exciting game which saw players try to survive after an apocalyptic earthquake, while dealing with all sorts of unpredictable events and encounters with other survivors.

Since the announcement in 2008, not a lot was known about I Am Alive, even if small trailers or screenshots popped up earlier this year.

Now, Ubisoft has finally released some new official details about I Am Alive, which is is now scheduled to appear as a downloadable title for consoles like the PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360, via the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Marketplace, respectively.

"We know people have been waiting for this game to arrive, and we believe it's going to be worth the wait," said Adam Novickas, Director of Marketing at Ubisoft. "I Am Alive presents a unique take on the post-apocalyptic, survival genre by creating more complex and emotional situations for the player. Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network are the perfect platforms to leverage the mature and challenging experiences of the game."

I Am Alive is now being developed by Ubisoft Shanghai, and "was engineered to create a convincing, post-disaster world in which players are faced with thought-provoking choices."

According to the French publisher, it "follows an everyman's journey to find his wife and daughter, who were lost during the "Event." A year later, he finds Haventon, his hometown, in shambles. Buildings are destroyed, toxic ash fills the streets, and society has been torn, causing inhabitants to take all necessary actions to survive."

Environment navigation and dealing with enemies are crucial to surviving in the post-apocalyptic scenario, as Ubisoft has implemented a special combat system that factors in intimidation, which depends on the type of opponents encountered.

I Am Alive is scheduled to appear this winter for consoles, while a PC version hasn't been mentioned just yet. Until then, check out the trailer for the game below.
