If you are a fan of Android smartphones with large screens, then you will certainly be happy to know that Huawei is allegedly getting ready for the launch of Ascend Mate 2, a 6.1-inch device.

The upcoming handset should land on shelves as the successor of Ascend Mate, which was made official at CES in January, as UnwiredView notes.

Chances are that the new Ascend Mate 2 will be unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show next year as well, though official confirmation on the matter is not available as of now.

However, you can have a look at the first leaked photos with the new device, which show it in all of its glory: front, back, and sides.

The photos, coming from Huawei News, were also accompanied by a series of details on the device’s hardware specifications, which confirm the aforementioned 6.1-inch screen size.

The phone is expected to arrive on shelves with a 1.6GHz quad-core processor inside, supposedly the HiSilicon Kirin 910 with Mali-450 graphics chip that will be included in the Ascend P6S.

The smartphone should arrive on shelves with 2GB of RAM packed inside, as well as with 16GB of internal memory.

Furthermore, the new device is expected to be able to deliver a full HD resolution on its large screen, though it appears that it will still be running under the older Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean operating system, with Huawei’s Emotion UI loaded on top.

However, we should note forget that there is over a month left until CES kicks off, and that Huawei might actually unveil the smartphone with a newer platform release on it.

For the time being, however, there’s no confirmation on this, nor on the actual existence of the smartphone, but info should emerge in the not too distant future, so stay tuned to learn some more details on the matter.
