When Warner Bros. released the first photo of Henry Cavill as Superman in Zack Snyder’s upcoming “Superman: Man of Steel,” voices were saying stylists had used a lot of padding to make him look this buff. As it turns out, they didn’t.

New photos snapped on the set of the highly anticipated film show the amazing physical condition in which the actor is now.

On location in British Columbia, Canada, Cavill, who once said his nickname as a kid was “Fat Cavill,” was shooting a scene for the film which, apparently, leaves his character shirtless and with ripped pants.

Photos show Cavill moving away from a building. He’s holding his boots in his hands and is braving the downpour, which can only mean he’s just survived some kind of catastrophe – perhaps an explosion or something to that effect.

Either way, one thing is certain: he looks buffer than any other actor ever to take on the role of Superman. He’s also hairier and more disheveled than all previous Supermen.

Let’s just hope the film will also rise to the expectations: it’s out on June 14, 2013.
