Heidi Montag Hires Private Investigator to Look into Spencer Pratt

Last week, Heidi Montag filed for legal separation from Spencer Pratt, citing irreconcilable differences. Though she refused to comment in any way the state of her marriage, rumors have it that the breakup may be no more than another publicity stunt at best, and one final bid to make a buck off their 15 minutes in the spotlight at worst. X17 Online says it’s the latter, with Montag even hiring a PI to dig into her husband’s affairs.

As we also informed you on a separate occasion, word has it that Heidi left Spencer because he made less money than she did, and out of a conviction that he was holding her down and not allowing her to have the kind of career she wanted. X17 says this is very likely, since sources close to the reality star claim she’s convinced Spencer has been spending her money like crazy, and she’s determined to find out how, when and with whom with the help of a private investigator.

“Heidi and Spencer share a bank account, and it’s no secret that Spencer has been spending her money like crazy. She obviously knows that she makes way more money than he does, and he knows that, too. People think this separation is fake, but it’s 100% real because she knows Spencer is ripping her off. The divorce definitely should be happening by the end of the week or by early next week, but the separation had to happen first until she gets her finances squared away,” a source says for the paparazzi agency.

And that’s not all, X17 writes, for Heidi also believes Spencer has committed the biggest sin possible, namely spend her money with someone else. “To make it worse, Heidi has her suspicions that Spencer is secretly spending her money on another girl. Her accountant has recently notified her of some big purchases from a jewelry store. When she confronted Spencer, he said he bought himself a new watch. Heidi doesn’t believe him. That’s why she hired the PI, and after a week of following him, Heidi’s convinced that another [woman] is getting showered with gifts at Heidi’s expense. She’s over it,” the spy dishes.

All this while, Spencer is desperately trying to get Heidi back, even dropping by her new home to sit down and talk her out of breaking free from him. Still, that’s not to say that a reconciliation is in the future, friends insist – Heidi is determined to make a name for herself without Spencer and she’s too upset about what he’s done to her to look back and grant him forgiveness.
