Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary edition will be released in November, but already quite a lot of details about it are being revealed by Microsoft, its publisher, and 343 Industries, one of the developers of the title, including brand new information about the special terminals that will provide a richer backstory to the series, as well as hints for next year's Halo 4.

Microsoft's Halo franchise is certainly one of the biggest in the world, and the company is set to re-introduce many gamers to the first title in the series, with the release of Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary in November, a remastered edition of the original, with new content and extra features.

We've already seen details about the multiplayer options and maps included in the new release, so Frank O'Connor, 343 Industries' creative director, has now talked with 1Up about the special terminals from Halo: Anniversary, which serve to add a richer backstory to the events portrayed by the series up until now, as well as some hints to the focus of the upcoming Halo 4 title, scheduled to kick off the 'Reclaimer Trilogy' next year.

According to O'Connor, the terminals won't be hidden in nooks and crannies, requiring sharp observation skills or anything like that. Instead, they'll only be visible to those who play in the Anniversary mode, with remastered graphics and extra features.

"We're not going to make them crazy Easter egg difficulty to find; it's a much more approachable," O'Connor revealed. "We want people to enjoy the story and get more out of the game. So we're making them fairly simple to find in the Regular difficulty -- they might be a bit harder to find on the other difficulties."

"But one of the ways to find them is to switch to Anniversary mode -- which in itself makes it a bit more than just an aesthetic switch to a real gameplay thing."

In classic mode, the terminals will look like any old computer, and can't be activated even if you know their exact location.

Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary edition is out on November 15, exclusively for the Xbox 360.
