HTC Vox Will Run Windows Mobile 6.0 Crossbow?

This is not the first time and probably not the last either when we see some type of leaked pictures or spy shots featuring the long awaited HTC Vox.

There is a catch though, and if you happen to be one of the guys that saw all the past pics
of the Vox
that roamed the web you'll most probably take a closer look to these two here.

It seems these are the device's first pictures ever to be made in an "unprotected environment" so to say (by the way, sorry about their quality). And you know what that means, don't you?

Some guy out there really had the chance to toy around with HTC's handheld, a handset rumored to run a Smartphone version of Microsoft's Windows Mobile 6.0 Crossbow operating system and from what I've been able to see in the photos, the rumor seems to be true.

There is yet another thing that sets these photos apart from every other picture of the Vox we have seen in the past and that is the missing 5 way jog bar under the front display.

Now it has been replaced with a D-pad and this fact just made me wonder if this really, truly is the HTC Vox. If it isn't, at least we've got to see yet another handset running in the wild :).

As the word goes, the Vox is a quad band GSM handset with EDGE support, a thing making it a no-no for the T-Mobile users. It will probably go off the leash on the new born Cingular / AT&T network and if that happens we will probably witness the ultimate war between the already present 8525 and the Hermes / Herald successor we're talking about here.

Just as before, we know about it featuring a 2 megapixel digital camera, a full featured Mobile Office suite, side sliding QWERTY keyboard, a 2.4 inch QVGA display, a TI OMAP processor working at 200 MHz, 128 MB ROM and 64 MB of RAM memory, wireless Bluetooth connectivity, WiFi 802.11 b/g standard, USB 1.1 and a microSD memory expansion card slot, all of these carefully wrapped up in a 0.7 inches slim body.

The price of such a handset is still unknown and we'll have to wait for that until an official announcement will be made by HTC.

There is info about a release date though, a launch going to happen somewhere in the second quarter of 2007.
