HTC announced that it planned to make its new HTC Touch Pro2 mobile phone available all around the world. The handset has gained a lot of attention last week when it was unveiled at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, and the company seems determined to allow virtually anyone to get hands on the device.

The company announced through its Twitter feed the following: “To answer the big question on everyone's minds, the Touch Pro2 will be broadly available in all major markets, including North America. We have not announced a launch date for the Touch Pro2 in any country yet. But we did announce we will start to roll it out late Q2.”

Considering that the mobile phone maker will follow the same pattern with this Windows Mobile-powered device as it did with its predecessor, the HTC Touch Pro, European users will be able to purchase the phone starting this summer, while those in the United States will see the device on the shelves this fall.

Upon announcing the HTC Touch Pro2 last week in Spain, the mobile phone maker did not unveil all its specs. There are no details on the wireless capabilities of the handset, but it is expected to feature Wi-Fi and wireless broadband, while GSM and CDMA versions should both be launched on the market.

As for what we know about the phone, it comes with a 528 MHz processor from Qualcomm, 288 MB of RAM, microSD memory card slot, a 3.2-megapixel camera with auto focus, a 3.6-inch touchscreen display able to deliver an 800 x 480 pixel resolution, a landscape-oriented sliding QWERTY keyboard and a 1500 mAh battery.

The handset will include the Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.1 platform, which will be upgradeable to Windows Mobile 6.5 when the OS becomes available. As for the dimensions of the new HTC Touch Pro2, the handset measures 4.6 x 2.3 x 0.7 inches and weighs 6.17 ounces with the battery inside.
