The HTC Touch Pro was expected to come to Bell Canada a few weeks ago, but it was officially released just a couple of days ago. However, we all know what they say about better late than never. The surprising factor is that it's on sale at a much more affordable price than it was first speculated.

Adding to this the fact that it is regarded, or at least has been so in the last few days, as the must-have smartphone, we could certainly say that it feels like an even better deal, even for those that did not expect to be able to afford this device.

The phone speaks for itself, by taking to the stand its 2.8-inch VGA touchscreen display, pressure sensitive and reliable in the long term. Combined with the slide-out QWERTY keyboard, it becomes one of those devices that you know it is going to make it pretty big in the business.

Needless to say, the phone brings the much wanted 3G factor and a couple of other useful features, such as a 3.2 Megapixel, autofocus, flash camera, GPS support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and microSD card slot. Running on the Windows Mobile OS, this smartphone comes with Microsoft Office pre-installed and, pretty surprisingly, it is not stamped with logos all over, in contrast with the HTC Touch Pro versions offered by AT&T or Sprint that were marked just as expected.

Initially, it was believed that HTC Touch Pro would be available for about $400 on a 3-year contract, but in the end, the price was set at $200 or 240 Canadian dollars, with the same contract deal. Without an agreement, the price is a pretty steep, $649.99. Bell Canada is hoping to release the Blackberry Storm, HTC Touch Diamond and the Samsung Cleo, sometime in December, probably before Christmas.

I purchased the HTC TOUCH PRO from Telus at the end of April and it is already needing to be replaced. I died 3 weeks ago. It was stuck in the start-up screen. My colleague purchased his also from Telus 3 weeks after me and his died 2 weeks before my. This device is NOT USER FRIENDLY. I am very disappointed with it. I was a former PALM TREO user, and loved it. Very simple, straight forward and never any issues. My company required us going to the WINDOWS MOBILE devices for our company software and I was sold the HTC. I have to admit, there are a couple of neat programs/features on it, however, the email set up (through Telus anyway) was extremely difficult, (the incoming mail servers are not easy to set up) it required the help of tech support. Tech support was still has not be able to get my friends email going, my did after 1 hour of being on the phone. The touch screens seem to be the problem on these devices. It was over $600 at Telus without a contract, and honestly I am hugely disappointed that I paid $150 for it. I wish I would have chosen the Windows Mobile PALM device.
