Unveiled back in early January during the International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, HTC Titan II has just been tipped for an early April release in Australia.

The folks over at WPDownUnder, claim that they have information that Telstra will start promoting the HTC Titan II at the end of March.

According to them Aussie Windows Phone fans should expect to see the first ads around March 27, while the smartphone is expected to arrive at Telstra in early April.

HTC Titan II will be a strong rival to the international Lumia 900, which is expected to arrive in Australia in late April.

HTC’s big Windows Phone device will hit shelves with an extra-large 4.7-inch Super LCD capacitive touchscreen display that supports 480 x 800 pixels resolution.

This might seem ridiculous at first glance, but Microsoft’s mobile platform does not support higher resolutions for the time being, so it’s not HTC’s fault.

Aside from the really big display, the HTC Titan II comes with an impressive 16-megapixel rear camera that supports autofocus, dual-LED flash and HD (720p) video recording. There’s also a secondary 1.3-megapixel from-facing camera for video calls.

It is also worth mentioning HTC Titan II is equipped with a 1.5 GHz single-core Qualcomm S2 Snapdragon processor, which is slightly better in comparison with Lumia 900’s 1.4 GHz single-core CPU.

The smartphone is said to feature 16GB of internal memory and 512MB of RAM, but this has yet to be confirmed by the manufacturer.

Another selling point of the smartphone is the 4G support, which will provide users peak download speeds up to 14.4Mbps. Other connectivity options include W-Fi and Bluetooth, as well as built-in GPS, DLNA and microUSB.

In other news, HTC Titan II is expected to arrive in the United States via AT&T sometime in March, but details on the phone’s exact release have yet to be confirmed.
