HTC Releases Hotfixes for Touch Pro2 and Touch Diamond2

Taiwan-based mobile phone maker HTC Corporation has recently issued a series of hotfixes aimed at its newly launched HTC Touch Pro2 and Touch Diamond2 devices. The new software solutions are meant to address some issues the handsets had either with SMS messaging capabilities or with the security of Bluetooth connectivity.

Starting with the HTC Touch Pro2, one of the new hotfixes is aimed at enabling customers to use the “+” international prefix when sending an SMS. “In Touch FLO 3D, SMS Messages cannot be sent out with the + prefix before the country code (+[Country Code][Phone number]),” the company says, also providing a list with the ROMs that need the update (they can be seen in the image attached to this article).

Another hotfix released by HTC for the Touch Pro2 is meant to enhance the handset's GPS functionality and is described as follows: “This hotfix can help the HTC Touch Pro2 seek out GPS satellites when using programs like TomTom, PAPAGO and others.” One thing that should be mentioned here is that the hotfix is meant only for ROM versions lower than 1.21.000.0.

As for the update released for the HTC Touch Diamond2, it is meant to improve the security of Bluetooth connectivity on the phone. “This hotfix enhances the security mechanisms of the Bluetooth service to make the Bluetooth communication more secure,” HTC says, also adding that it will only work with devices that have the FTP service preinstalled (enter the Settings > Communications > Settings > Bluetooth menu and verify that the FTP tab is present there).

In case the hotfix for Touch Diamond2 is not needed (the service is not present or the update has already been performed), a pop-up message saying “This hotfix is not compatible with your device” will appear. All three hotfixes can be found on HTC's website, along with all the necessary installation instructions.
