HTC Incredible S, the latest Android-based smartphone that HTC announced for the worldwide market, is now available for purchase in Canada via Virgin Mobile, after being put on sale at Bell

too.

The same as at Bell, the new device sports a price tag of only $99.99 upon the signing of a contract agreement with the wireless carrier on a three-year period.

The full retail price tag for this Android mobile phone has been set at $499.99, the wireless carrier notes.

The HTC Incredible S was launched this year with Google's Android 2.2 Froyo operating system on board, but should taste Android 2.3 Gingerbread in the not too far future, and Virgin Mobile already committed to the delivery of this software update for it.

A leaked internal document from Virgin Mobile confirms this state of facts. “There is an Android OS 2.3 update planned for the Incredible S,” the said document reads.

As MobileSyrup notes in a recent article, the move was confirmed by HTC themselves a few weeks ago.

At that time, a HTC spokesperson said: “We are excited to announce that the Desire HD, Desire Z, Desire and Incredible S will receive the Gingerbread update in Q2.”

An exact release date for the software update was not unveiled for the time being, but, provided that all would go according to plan, it should not be too long before more details on this emerge.

The HTC Incredible S comes to shelves with a 4-inch WVGA touchscreen display, an 8 MP photo snapper on the back with LED flash, auto focus and video recording capabilities, and a 1.3MP front-facing camera for video calling.

The mobile phone also includes Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, 3G, 3.5mm audio jack, 4GB of internal storage, and an 8GB microSD card included in the package, though it supports up to 32GB of storage via memory cards.
