Today, wireless carrier Telstra announced that it would bring to the market in Australia a new Windows Phone 7-based device starting with March 29th, namely the HTC HD7.

The mobile phone carrier unveiled plans to have this device available for its users ever since the official Windows Phone 7 launch in October, but no exact release date for it was unveiled until now.

The HTC HD7 sports a 4.3-inch high-resolution screen (480 x 800 pixels), the largest on a Windows Phone 7 smartphone today, along with a fast 1GHz application processor, so that it would provide users with a gread experience while on the go.

“We are pleased to announce the HTC HD7 will be available exclusively on the Telstra Next G Network in March,” said Ben Hodgson, Country Manager, HTC Australia and New Zealand.

“HTC has shown strong leadership in developing Windows based devices in the past, illustrating our ability to be first-to-market.

“The HTC HD7 continues along this tradition with its focus on providing the ultimate multimedia experience coupled with a nice simple user interface and access to a broad range of useful applications.”

The specifications list of the new device would include 5.0 megapixel color photo snapper with auto focus, LED flash and 720p HD video recording capabilities.

The new device would be able to easily offer a great multimedia experience to all users, through the ability to playback HD videos, or to play Xbox LIVE games while on the go. Not to mention that it includes HTC Surround Sound.

Access to music and videos is easy on the new device (via Zune), and the same applies to browsing the Internet, or to accessing various social networking sites.

In the Pictures hub, users would be able to access photos taken with the handset's camera, or those uploaded to their Facebook and Windows Live accounts.

“HTC HD7 arrives at a time when Aussies are increasingly turning to their smartphones for entertainment and gaming,” said Andrew Volard, Director, Telstra Mobility Products.

“They’re going to love the HTC HD7’s huge screen for playing video or streaming YouTube. Its snappy performance and access to a growing catalogue of Xbox LIVE games also makes a really exciting games platform.

“And perhaps most importantly for our customers, the HTC HD7 is really simple to use with the Windows Phone 7 operating system making navigation, composing email and accessing information incredibly easy.”

On HTC HD7, users would enjoy access to over 10,000 applications available in the Windows phone Marketplace, with even more of them expected to become available for download in the not too far future. Moreover, the Office Hub will offer integrated Microsoft Exchange email and calendar, for an enhanced business productivity experience.

At Telstra, the HTC HD7 will feature a RRP $768. If purchased on a Consumer Telstra Next G Cap plan or a Telstra Business Mobile PLUS Plan, the price would be repaid over 24 months. All Telstra Stores and partners will have the device available on March 29th.
