The carrier says they have priority

Windows Mobile 6.5-based HTC HD2 has seen great traction in the US on the airwaves of T-Mobile, and it seems that the device is continuing to appeal a lot to users. The latest reports on the matter suggest that existing T-Mobile customers find it rather difficult to upgrade to the new device, although the high-end handset is said to be available and in stock via the carrier's online store and at many corporate-owned retail locations.

According to T-Mobile, the initial problems with HD2 inventory have continued, this being the main reason for which some users have had difficulties in finding the phone available for purchase. Here's what the carrier said to Engadget: “T-Mobile understands the inventory challenges for the HTC HD2 and continues to work diligently in order to supply our customers with this highly popular product. As we receive additional inventory of the HTC HD2, we are giving priority to our existing customers. However, the demand for the device is still exceeding our supply.”

On the other hand, there have been a series of claims that the carrier would actually prioritize available HTC HD2 stock for new customers, while leaving existing users aside. As Engadget notes, this wouldn't be the first time T-Mobile made the move, yet the most surprising fact is that it does it again while the device has been out of stock for a couple of weeks now. HTC HD2 is a highly appealing device, and the carrier should consider servicing its existing customers first, the news site suggests.

“Depending on the location, some T-Mobile retail stores may still have some HTC HD2 inventory available. We suggest that interested customers contact their local T-Mobile store via phone before visiting to see if they have the HTC HD2 available. If they do not have the HTC HD2 available, some stores are taking names and contact information, and will be able to notify customers once that location has product available.” the wireless carrier reportedly added.
