The Android fever seems to have caught another manufacturer, namely Vobis Computer, which adds to the long list of Android adopters while also being present on the shorter list of companies that already announced their handset running under Google's platform. Its Android device, called HIGHSCREEN PP5420, is the first such phone to become available in Russia, and is reported to come to the shelves starting today, July 6.

The specification list of the HIGHSCREEN PP5420 shows a Qualcomm MSM7201A processor that has been clocked at 528MHz, coupled with 128 MB of RAM and with 256 MB of ROM. In addition, the Android-based mobile phone also comes with a 3-inch WQVGA touchscreen display that can boast a 240 x 400 pixel resolution, as well as support for 262K colors, as well as with a 3-megapixel photo snapper that sports auto focus and video recording capabilities.

Other specs of the new device also show Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR, USB 2.0, G-sensor, accelerometer, Integrated GPS-receiver with support for Assisted GPS and E-GPS, support for Google maps, as well as support for Google Search and YouTube, audio and video players, and a wide range of connectivity options, including GSM (850/900/1800/1900); WCDMA / HSDPA (900/2100), as well as GPRS Class 10 (EDGE); HSDPA 7,2 download/ HSUPA 2,0 upload; GPRS Class 10 (EDGE); and HSDPA 7,2Mbps download / HSUPA 2,0Mbps upload.

According to Vobis Shop, where the handset can be spotted available for acquisition, Russia is the only country that will receive it (at least for now, we presume). At the same time, it should be mentioned that the device comes with a second OLED-display, which is meant to replace the navigation buttons and trackballs. The 1080 mAh battery packed inside the phone should provide up to 4 hours of talk time or up to 200 hours of standby time. The price of the new Android-based HIGHSCREEN PP5420 has been set at around $500 without a contract.
