In the United Kingdom

It's time for another look at the best sold video games in the United Kingdom, and it seems that, despite the fact that Liverpool was the home of the band, The Beatles Rock Band cannot claim to be the best sold title on the market in its first week since release. That honor goes to its closest rival, Guitar Hero 5 from Activision, which debuted in the first position and might remain there for quite some time.

Impressively, The Beatles Rock Band, which has been published by EA Games in collaboration with MTV Games and Harmonix, is not even taking home the second spot. That place is occupied by another newcomer, Colin McRae: DiRT 2 from Codemasters, the racing game that is looking to re-invent itself by adopting a more urban attitude, while holding on to the simulation aspect, which has made the series so popular with virtual-speed addicts. The third place in the United-Kingdom charts is occupied by Batman: Arkham Asylum from Eidos, which has spent the last few weeks in the top spot.

The Beatles Rock Band finally makes its entry on the fourth spot and it will be interesting to see how the title evolves over the coming weeks. Wii Fit, a game that is more than one year old, manages to be placed the fifth in the chart, while Wii Sport Resort drops quite precipitously, going from the second to the sixth place in just one week.

IL-2 Sturmovik: Birds of Prey, from 1C Company, manages to only drop one place, to the seventh, while Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, another quite old title, manages to sit at number eight, as players pick it up in preparation of the release of the sequel, Modern Warfare 2. The ninth spot is taken over by a revived Mario Kart Wii, while Ashes Cricket 2009, again from Codemasters, is at number ten.

Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10 dropped out of the top ten, as did Fight Night Round 4. Mini Ninjas from Eidos managed to only debut in the fifteenth place.
