GuardianEdge, a provider of endpoint data protection for enterprises, announced the release of Smartphone Security, a product that provides enterprises and government agencies with the ability to protect sensitive data on smartphones and handheld devices. This latest addition to the GuardianEdge Data Protection Platform extends GuardianEdge's data loss and data leakage protection solutions to the major mobile platforms, including Palm OS, Windows Mobile and Symbian.

GuardianEdge Smartphone Security provides comprehensive security for enterprise smartphones by ensuring that data on the devices is encrypted and that access to applications, ports, Wi-Fi and external devices are controlled by policy. In addition to that, the solution ensures that compliance with assigned security policies is validated prior to allowing connectivity to enterprise networks. Integration with Active Directory enables security policies to be easily deployed and managed, eliminating the complexity and costs associated with administering and managing the solution.

"Our mission has always been to help enterprises and government agencies protect their valuable corporate data from physical theft and loss or data leakage from their endpoints with an innovative comprehensive platform that both adheres to industry standards and is easy to maintain", said Ram Krishnan, GuardianEdge senior vice president of products and marketing. "The latest addition to our platform will support compliance with data privacy and security regulations, reducing the risk of substantial customer service costs, damage to brand equity, and legal or business costs and will also be used to protect key IP such as trade secrets, source code and formulas."

GuardianEdge is a major provider of endpoint data protection for enterprises, more than two million users around the world relying on GuardianEdge solutions. The company's endpoint data protection solutions have been deployed by major organizations including Lockheed Martin Corporation, Deutsche Bank AG and Humana Inc., as well as numerous agencies in the U.S. departments of Veteran Affairs, Defense, State and Education.
