Only in Japan for now

There is some good news and some bad news for Grand Turismo fans. According to arstechnica.com, website that quotes an official Sony Japan press release, Grand Turismo was canned. This was the bad news, and some of you may burst out into tears just about now.

Apparently, the games' developer Polyphony wants to focus more on Grand Turismo 5, but an official release date was not revealed yet. To get on with the good news, I must inform you that Japanese gamers will benefit from a free download, which includes ten cars and two layouts of a single track. Maybe this is not exactly what you've hoped for, but still, it is free. Up to this point, nobody knows if this free download will be available in the U.S. or Europe but let's hope that Japanese won't keep the goodies for themselves.

Grand Turismo HD was first known as Vision Grand Turismo, and was supposed to be the first installment in the Grand Turismo series to be released on the PlayStation 3. Ferrari, Porsche and Lamborghini were supposed to debut in the GT series with HD, but I guess we will get to see them in Grand Turismo 5.

Many of you might say that Grand Turismo is the most realistic racing simulator out there, but I have to remind you of Forza Motorsport, game that soon will get a sequel. What bugs me about Grand Turismo is that there is no car damage. If you crash your car into a wall, it doesn't explode and you can't see any damage done to it. I know that this is due to licensing agreements but what's a racing sim without damage? Where's the thrill of driving with your windshield busted?
