Sony seems to be really interested in seeing the new Gran Turismo game for the PSP succeed. The title was announced at the E3 in June and with the release date of October 1 quickly approaching, the company has announced that it plans to bundle the game for sale with a handheld. The package will cost players 199.99 dollars and it will be offered on October 20. This is the same price as other bundles that feature the PlayStation Portable.

On October 1, Sony is also set to release the all new PlayStation Portable Go!, which is set to ditch the UMD drive and get all its content from a special section of the PlayStation Network.

So, it would have seemed like a good idea to bundle the game with the new device, increasing the attractiveness of both products and making sure that gamers get the fresh handheld with one of the games that they have been waiting for for quite some time.

But Sony decided that it would rather offer the bundle with a PSP-3000 version of its handheld. Those who pick up the new offer will also be getting a voucher allowing them to get a Chevrolet Corvette ZR1, one that allows the user to download 10 songs using the Sony Music Pass service and one that gets the buyer access to one PlayStation Network movie.

Sony is saying that the PSP offered in the bundle will be “mystic silver” colored. Sony seems to be making a big mistake by not offering the same bundle with a PSP Go! included but it could just be that the company has trouble estimating the number of the new devices it will sell and does not want to divert supply for the release of Gran Turismo PSP.
