Gran Turismo 5 is set to receive a new title update, in order to update certain systems and improve the online component of the eagerly anticipated racing game, at least according to its creator, Kazunori Yamauchi.

Gran Turismo 5 has just been launched a couple of days ago, but Sony, its publisher, has already released one update for it, bringing the game to 1.01.

Now, Yamauchi says that another title update will be released, on November 27, in order to "refine the usability of the game to make it a better experience."

"We're going to perform an update on the 27th that will include things like max power restrictions and weight restrictions," he revealed. "It's like a living creature, dynamically growing as we speak.

"Online updates are planned of course for leaderboards and matchmaking - [they're] all planned in the process of evolution," he added.

Don't expect the patching and updating process to stop though, as Yamauchi said that the development team at Polyphony Digital will continue to tinker with the game and improve it through various add-ons.

The Gran Turismo 5 creator says players should expect updates "every week, every month", and that he thinks that "it's going to be hard to find an end to that process."

Gran Turismo 5 was already affected yesterday by online issues, resulting from "extreme online traffic congestion," according to Sony.

Yamauchi revealed that the servers for GT5 were set up to handle around 500,000 connections, but the actual number greatly exceeded that.

As such, due to the racing game incorporating online features into almost every one of its modes, performance was affected and lag was experienced by players even in single-player races or in the menu navigation.

"Right now we've changed the number of simultaneous connections that are possible to one million, doubling the number, and we're trying to gauge what will happen, but we don't know at this point in time," revealed Yamauchi.
