The changes in the task list are automatically updated on Gmail

Back in December, Gmail Labs made available a Task list for Gmail, a feature that rapidly appealed to users and became a rather popular functionality. Now, the team has unveiled a mobile version of the feature, in the form of Gmail Tasks. Any user who already has installed the Task list on Gmail will be able to connect to it and add new items.

Google's Tasks application can be used on Android-powered mobile phones as well as on iPhones and can be accessed through the devices' browsers, which are both based on Webkit. All that users need to do is go to gmail.com/tasks in their browser, and the feature will appear instantly. Moreover, as soon as they make modifications to the tasks, including the addition of new items or the deletion of others, the task list on Gmail is automatically updated.

Another interesting feature of the application is that it can transform emails into tasks. One feature that lacks from the Gmail Tasks is the possibility to share the list with friends or contacts. At the same time, users won't be able to make lists when their mobile phones are not connected to the Internet. However, offline capabilities are expected to become available as soon as the mobile version of Google Gears will include support for Android and the iPhone.

Not only that having a personal to-do list enabled on your mobile phone is a great thing, but the fact that Google has turned the added feature of Gmail into its own application is also significant. As soon as the offline functionality of Gmail Tasks is available, things will get even better, mainly due to the fact that the connection is not always as strong as it should be. And, who knows, we might even see Tasks on their own site pretty soon.

Take a look at the video below to see how easy and simple using Gmail Tasks would be.
