The man who once shared a tent and whatever else he had with Ted Williams, the former homeless man who shot to international fame as “Golden Voice,” is now richer. He’s also received promises that he will get proper help to get his life back in order.

Williams, who left rehab last week against his doctor’s orders, made a stop by his old stomping grounds – and was reunited with the man who used to be his tent-mate, TMZ has learned.

Showing that he hasn’t forgotten his former friends, Williams gave the homeless man a “wad” of cash, together with his promise that he’ll come back to help him get back on his feet.

“Ted Williams just pulled off a HUGE surprise for the homeless man he shared a tent with on the streets of Ohio – when he drove up to his friend’s corner and dropped off a MAJOR wad of cash,” TMZ reports.

This happened within hours after Ted left rehab, for reasons that are yet to be revealed to the press.

“Sources connected to ‘Golden Voice’ tell us... shortly after Ted ditched rehab, he reappeared at his old stomping grounds Monday, but this time he was being driven around in a black SUV,” TMZ notes.

He met up with his former friend, and shared with him one of the joys of being a superstar – money.

“We’re told Ted located a man named Victor – his best friend and tent-mate on the streets – and immediately pulled over the car,” TMZ reports.

“The reunion was emotional – and after the men exchanged a hug and some kind words, Ted gave Victor a wad of cash and promised to help him out once he gets his own life back in order,” says the same e-zine.

As TMZ notes, Ted too has to make some life-altering decisions if he doesn’t want to ruin the second chance he’s been given: after an altercation with his daughter less than 2 weeks after he became famous, he checked into rehab.

He left last week before completing treatment and against his doctor’s advice. Since he admitted he had a history as a drug and alcohol addict, it’s clear he needs to complete treatment before re-launching his career as “Golden Voice.”
