God of War is probably one of the best series of games designed for Sony's PlayStation 2 console. It follows the adventures of Kratos, a former Spartan soldier who goes out and takes up different types of missions for the Greek gods Ares and Athena, who promise him the revival of his family.

The first title introduced new features and innovations that changed the way PS2 RPGs (Role Playing Games) were designed and made. The very solid gameplay and excellent graphics were praised by all of the industry analysts, who regarded the game, and its sequel, as the few PS2 games that really exploited the entire potential of the console.

The fifth title in the series, but the third for regular consoles, will be God of War III, which is set to be launched on the PlayStation 3. Although a release date or any other details haven't been unveiled by Sony, analysts say that the game might be appearing in the holiday season of 2009, as one of the blockbuster titles for the PS3.

David Jaffe, the creator of the series, has recently posted on his blog a very interesting statement in which he praises the graphics of the game. He starts off by saying that Gears of War 2 is definitely a gorgeous game in terms of the detailed environment and characters, but, as he recently got the chance to see a build of God War III, this one will set a whole new benchmark in terms of graphics.

His statement, which really showed that he was excited about this new title, has made a lot of fans quite happy because no details were released by Sony and interest was beginning to fade. The action adventure game promises to bring a much more epic battle, between Kratos and the rest of the Greek gods, for the control over the country and the freedom of its people.

All in all, God of War III will certainly be a must have title for any adventure fans who want to relive the great moments offered by the previous titles. Let's just hope that Sony will make more details public.
