They wanted third party support and Nintendo got it for them. Now they're whining about it.

Newsweek's Level Up sat down with GoNintendo's Kevin Cassidy and talked about why Nintendo fans are never pleased. "So when it comes to third party games, Nintendo fans are almost impossible to please," said Kevin Cassidy. "They seem to want everything and nothing at the same time. They want massive third party support, but when they get it they turn their backs. They have no problem with the rated-E for Everyone titles when Nintendo makes them, but the same designation is unacceptable when coming from third parties."

What is it with Nintendo fans and third parties anyway? Does this mean that all Nintendo fans are aware of what they're buying in terms of publisher, developer who did what to help with the game's development and so on? Level Up says that Nintendo consumers seem to understand and enjoy what the company is trying to accomplish, while third party developers and publishers see the Wii as a viable platform for their work, yet when they get the final product, they whine like little babies.

Naturally, Nintendo gets third party support, just like Sony and Microsoft do with their gaming platforms. But problems start to arise when Nintendo fans stop appreciating third party support and it sounds like a growing issue for the company. So then the next question arises: What do Nintendo fans want? Well, first of all, just as you may have already hinted, more "mature" titles. And so says GoNintendo's Kevin Cassidy.

Thing is the Wii can't have much more popularity than it already has. I mean yeah, it normally could but you can't have all the games on just one console, so there is going to be a little disappointment coming from fans every once in a while. Cassidy makes examples out of Rockstar's GTA and Bungie's Halo, titles that did tremendously well for the Wii's rivals, Sony's PlayStation and respectively Microsoft's Xbox. Some of those whining fans simply don't get it that certain titles are exclusive. Plus, Nintendo isn't that much into violence if you bothered to notice.
