Celebrate Independence Day by shooting others

As most of you know, the upcoming weekend holds July 4, the date when the United States celebrate their Independence. The day is marked by fireworks, celebrations, parades and, as Epic Games and Treyarch have in mind, shooting others in their respective games, Gears of War 2 and Call of Duty: World at War.

That's right, what better way to celebrate such a day than to stay at home and shoot others, but there is a catch, as players will get double the experience points during this time frame, which will start tomorrow, July 3, will end on Monday, July 6, and will be available for Xbox Live Gold members.

Special offerings are also scheduled at the beginning of this period, as, for CoD: World at War, maps from the second DLC Map Pack will be included in the Core and Hardcore rotation systems. For Gears of War 2, the carnage will begin just as the fourth Title Update will be available for download, giving gamers all the more reasons to start playing during this weekend.

“It's time to celebrate Independence Day!” the announcement on the Gears of War 2 forums reads. “And we're going to do that with some extra experience and an onslaught of our version of fireworks, the beloved Ticker. Starting Friday morning you'll be receiving double XP as well as a 500 XP bonus awarded to the winning team. And to give a little extra bang to Horde we're bringing the Ticker squad (a group of Tickers that all spawn at the same time) into full effect. They'll be showing up a lot more throughout all the waves of Horde and they've completely infested every 10th wave with nothing but Tickers. So if you've been having trouble with Bloodmounts, this weekend is a good time to get your Horde on and get further than ever before. And don't forget that TU4 will give you experience for every wave you beat.”

Overall, these are some great offers and will certainly make a lot of gamers stay at home and play with their friends and family.
