Founder Jimmy Wales hopes to attract "passionate" gamers to express their opinions

Sometimes you really need those encyclopedias to get something done or to clearly understand a topic, even games. What am I saying here? Especially games. So, seeing this as a necessity, Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales launched a new "open source games magazine" called games.wikia. This information was brought by Wired's Chris Kohler and although it is in that becoming-something-great state where no topic exceeds 10 votes and 15 comments, Kohler feels that it can be both a great gaming encyclopedia and a crap-fest.

"The 'open-source magazines' we're unveiling today are focused largely around topics where passionate people have already started collaborating online," said Dan Lewis, vice president of business development at Wikia. "The launch of Tunes, Cars, Gaming and Health is a continuation of our mission to open-source the creation and development of content around every topic imaginable--so we are obviously not stopping here."

Just like tunes.wikia, cars.wikia and health.wikia, Jimmy Wales hopes that games.wikia will attract experienced gamers to contribute with good amounts of information. The only question that remains is: what exactly will be considered as an "expert opinion?" And if not that, at least a pertinent one. Anyway, let's all hope it turns into a real useful tool, which everyone can use to further expand their gaming knowledge. With all those games out there, it's easy to become confused.
