And wait till you see what they're being awarded

Sony's not only laying off 100 of its fine working individuals, but now they're actually awarding prizes to Gamestop employees for pushing their PS3 to customers. There's absolutely no doubt whatsoever that the company is in some deep poop with this next-gen console of theirs. This is pathetic! Well, not pathetic but pitiful. Wait, that's pretty much the same thing...

Anyway, this piece of news is coming straight from GamersReports, who informs on the following facts, as reliable source of theirs at Gamestop, told them:

"Sony assigns a target sales number for each Gamestop store. This figure is obtained by using at the average PS3 sales numbers from April of this year, and manipulating it a bit. Then, the store manager in each district that sells the most PS3 units above the Sony assigned goal will be recognized as the winner. The manager who wins is then awarded 20,000 points to use on the Sony/Gamestop rewards website. On top of that, the manager of the number one store in the entire company wins an additional 10,000 points. Since we cannot access the reward site, we cannot tell just how much junk 30,000 points can buy, but we expect it is a decent amount."

But don't worry, you'll be able to know how much those points are worth, as reader FragNemesis provided an update saying that goods will be PS3 games of course and Sony published ones at that. Motorstorm, Resistance: Fall of Man, Genji, and NBA '07 are the only ones currently offered, the reader reports, while each costs 3450 points to purchase. The respective games can be found at retailers for about $60 a piece, thus the point/dollar ratio would be somewhere around 57.5 points per dollar.

That means that the 20.000 points that the awarded manager gets is almost $350 in games. Of course, the site doesn't offer PS3s for purchase, but that's not why they don't make the necessary points available, but because the PS3 doesn't even sport that many titles. As I said, pathetic...!
