Gameloft announced the launch of America's Army: Special Operations, the first official mobile game of the U.S. Army. Created in partnership with the U.S. Army, the game lets players join the ranks of the U.S. military land force in a mission to repel an enemy attack.

America's Army: Special Operations is a realistic military game, inspired by the popular PC and console versions. The collaborative project is the only mobile game in which players assume the roles of U.S. Army personnel, ranging from Apache helicopter pilot to infantry soldier to armored vehicle commander. The game features authentic U.S. Army weapons and vehicles including Apache helicopters, Strykers, M4A1 rifles, and Stinger missiles. Borrowing from real Army operations, players must achieve mission objectives ranging from neutralizing a radar station to combat search and rescue.

"We have worked closely with Gameloft to create a fast-paced military action game worthy of the America's Army name," said Colonel Casey Wardynski, project director of the America's Army project. "In keeping with our PC and console titles, America's Army: Special Operations embodies the high levels of attention to detail and realism that have made America's Army the definitive title for games about the U.S. Army."

America's Army: Special Operations targets a wide audience with its user-friendly arcade format and varied levels. The game features advanced combat sequences and fully-destructible environments, including desert, city and jungle scenes.

"Real videos of the U.S. Army were studied to create all the animations and graphics you see in this game," said Gonzague de Vallois, Gameloft's Vice President of Publishing. "Players will be able to employ actual U.S. Army weapons and technologies. No other mobile game can offer that and I'm quite pleased with our results."

The PC version of America's Army has been downloaded by more than 8 million people. The mobile title is available in 70 countries through 160 telecom operators and 150 partners. The game supports more than 600 different cell phone models.
