That iPod is some piece of work, huh? Not only has it got the attention of two big-a** video game developers (Electronic Arts and Namco), but now handheld games maker Gameloft is also jumping in. The renowned mobile games developer has added Block Breaker Deluxe to the iPod's lineup of games.

The game, as its name implies, revolves around breaking bricks - one of the most enjoyable video game formulas ever conceived. In case you're not very familiar with the concept (which practically makes you a 100% non-gamer), all you need to do is bounce a ball off of a movable paddle to pop/destroy bricks on the upper play field.

The iPod version however features tons of extra stuff! For example, you can use 14 upgradeable power-ups to bust 11 types of bricks. While all of the game's concepts have basically remained the same, one in particular is new to the ball-breaking genre: the yo-yo power-up. This power-up enables players where you can call the ball back to the paddle.

"We revamped the graphics of Block Breaker Deluxe for iPod to make it the most feature-rich, action packed wall breaker game ever created," explained Gonzague de Vallois, senior vice president of publishing, Gameloft. "We think iPod owners will be pleased with the stunning new animation effects, vibrant environments and innovative gameplay."

Block Breaker Deluxe sports 50 night-life based levels, 5 hip locations and 5 boss stages, aside the upper mentioned different types of bricks and power-ups. But check this. As if all this wasn't enough, Gameloft has also added a Level Editor which not only allows iPod owners to build, create and play their own levels, but also share the self-crafted levels with others in the iPod community via iTunes.

Block Breaker Deluxe is now available for download via the iTunes Store for your iPod nano, iPod Classic and fifth generation iPod. Gameloft's popular game is priced at $4.99.
