It looks like Samsung decided to roll out the Gingerbread upgrade for Galaxy S in multiple countries

After Indian owners of the popular Android smartphones reported that Gingerbread can now be downloaded and installed via Samsung Kies, it appears that the upgrade is available in Hong Kong as well.

Numerous reports indicate that Android 2.3 update (JV5) is now available for download to users of the Galaxy S living in Hong Kong.

Samsung and Google have already deployed the Gingerbread upgrade throughout Europe last month, but encountered some difficulties with some of the carrier branded variants of the smartphone.

Some of the main enhancements of the new software include, but are not limited to, enhancements to the user interface, new Android Keyboard, with easy copy/paste feature, improved Power Management, Internet Calling support, and multiple camera management.

Obviously, there's no official announcement that would indicate the release of the firmware upgrade, but it seems that many users have already reported the availability of Android 2.3 Gingerbread update.

As reported, the Samsung Galaxy S is now being replaced by Samsung with the next-generation Galaxy S II, which is now available for purchase in several countries.

Although the phone's sales exceeded all expectations, it seems that the Korean handset manufacturer is still struggling to bring the device to as many countries as possible.

The Samsung Galaxy S was the first Android smartphone of Galaxy family launched on the market, and is still considered one of the most popular in its range.

However, as the phone was retailed with Android 2.1 Eclair out-of-the-box, it made Samsung and Google mission of delivering software updates extremely difficult.

It seems that Samsung Galaxy S users living in Asia are among the last to benefit from the Android 2.3 Gingerbread upgrade.
