Mobile phone carrier AT&T is gearing up for the release of a new, high-end Android-powered mobile phone on its airwaves, namely the Samsung Galaxy S II, and the company has just unveiled that the device will be put up for sale starting with October 2nd. Beginning that day, all AT&T customers interested in the new Samsung Galaxy S II will be able to purchase the phone for $199.99 (around 150 Euros) with the signing of a two-year contract agreement.

The wireless services provider made the announcement via its Twitter account, explaining that those who would like to get the new phone without committing to a long-term contract will be able to do so while paying $549.99 for it.

Users interested in learning more on the new handset at AT&T can head over to the carrier's website here, where they can also register for receiving updates on the phone's availability.

Shortly after AT&T announced the release date for the new device, photos with its internal circuitry emerged into the wild, courtesy of FCC, which had to closely inspect the smartphone.

Those who will take their time to look at the photos available from FCC will be able to see that the AT&T flavor of Galaxy S II is different from the original device, although it comes to the market with the same 4.3-inch touchscreen display.

AT&T's flavor of the mobile phone comes with four capacitive buttons below the screen, instead of offering a home button as the original.

In the photos available from FCC, via wirelessgoodness, you will also be able to see the dual-core application processor from Samsung, namely the Exynos chip, as well as the HSPA+ THOR modem from ST-Ericsson.

The Galaxy S II also arrives at AT&T with an 8-megapixel photo snapper on the back, microSD memory card slot, GPS receiver, Android 2.3 Gingerbread on board, and support for a great deal of applications and games available via the Android Market.
