GDC-Nintendo's Q2 Games List

Again the GDC… You're probably
already bored of hearing nothing but GDC this and GDC that, developers say this, developers say that, but it's all good information especially when they release title lists for upcoming games. Nintendo did that this year, released their Q2 games list that is, which is pretty impressive if we look at the number of titles going to hit the Wii, and DS. However, the Wii doesn't seem to be getting any original titles.

The Wii and the DS are getting equal numbers of titles (17 each), while the GameBoy Advance is getting just one: Shrek the Third, from Activision. Something like that shouldn't surprise anyone. Who even touches the GBA when the DS does everything better, plus has touchscreen ability and two screens that actually light up? Other than Mortal Kombat: Armageddon and Prince of Persia Rival Swords, which could be considered more serious titles for the Wii, this year is again all about Mario, Tamagotchi and Pokemon. Nothing wrong with that of course (it's a kid's console isn't it?), yet some may actually want something more than controllable cartoons.

As some of you might already know, the DS is getting more Pokemon with Pokemon Pearl and Diamond. Pokemon, Pokemon, Pokemon... Again, who's to blame them? The game sells like hot cake and does the same for the consoles. Both the Wii and the DS enjoy a good dose of popularity thanks to this title. This and of course Mario.
