Back in October, Canadian mobile phone maker Research In Motion was hit by a major outage that affected users all around the world, and the company is currently making up for that.

Just as it announced at the time, BlackBerry users are being provided with free applications to download and install on their devices, and two new games have been included into the mix now.

Both of these come from renowned mobile developer Gameloft, and are nothing more than mobile games: N.O.V.A. and Texas Hold'em Poker 2.

Both of these were made available for download for free via the BlackBerry App World, where they can be seen next to other apps that RIM has made available for free as part of the aforementioned promotion.

“Thank you for choosing and supporting BlackBerry. In appreciation, N.O.V.A. is free of charge for a limited time (a $4.99 USD value), compliments of BlackBerry,” is what users will read on the game’s page in the storefront (Texas Hold'em Poker 2’s page features the same message).

N.O.V.A. (Near Orbit Vanguard Alliance) will plunge users in a sci-fi FPS in which they will have to fight for mankind's survival against a species of aggressive aliens.

Since Earth can no longer sustain life, people build artificial satellites called “near-orbitals” that should ensure the humankind lives on, and players will need to protect these.

As for Texas Hold’em Poker 2, there is little that can be said about this game that is not already known.

It will prove a great option for those users interested in a great poker game for enjoying while on the go, especially now that it is available for free.

For those out of the loop, we should note that RIM offers various other games and applications as well to its users who have been affected by the said outage. All of them can be seen on the special page that the company put in place for them in the BlackBerry App World.
