Leading wireless services provider France Telecom, the top provider of IPTV services under the Orange brand, announced recently that it had selected Orca Interactive, a well-known innovator in IPTV middleware and applications and a Viaccess subsidiary, for implementing a multi-screen content discovery and recommendation solution. According to the company, it plans on using Orca’s COMPASS Content Discovery and Recommendations platform for all the Orange TV related services.

Orca’s COMPASS platform offers a series of recommendations engines that can deliver a mixture of personal, optimized recommendations for TV customers, as well as for PC and mobile phone users. According to the wireless carrier, the COMPASS platform should enable Orange customers to easily discover various content, based on what is relevant for them, something that will result in an increased customer satisfaction, as well as in higher conversion rates.

“The advanced TV technologies of today have really revolutionised how people think about television. This project exemplifies the degree of personalization that operators will need to offer in order to stay competitive,” commented François Moreau de Saint Martin, CEO of Viaccess and Chairman of Orca Interactive. “We are committed to protecting and enhancing the value of content services for TV operators and we are thrilled at the chance to prove this with France Telecom.”

At the same time, the wireless carrier also notes that, based on the fact that it offers a wide range of services to its users, it should be able to increase the ARPU through also delivering pro-active assistance when it comes to customer's purchase decisions. The COMPASS platform sports Orca’s world-class IPTV middleware, RiGHTv, which will enable France Telecom to benefit from a seamless integration, as well as from rich functionality.

“COMPASS is a game-changer with respect to an operator's ability to put content in front of those who value it most and are willing to pay a premium, regardless of the context or device being used. It is an extremely powerful blend of a customer-oriented approach towards user experience and operator-focused tools that increase the penetration of content services and help optimize the revenue per user. Working with France Telecom and the variety of content services that they offer will certainly pose a challenge and I look forward to all of our innovation and creativity being put to the test,” Haggai Barel, CEO of Orca Interactive, added.
