No later than last week Foursquare application for Android device received a new look and several new tweaks that made it easier to navigate.

A new update has just been applied to the Android app, which brings even more new features, as well as lots of redesigned screens.

The most interesting new feature introduced with Foursquare 2011.08.29 for Android is the possibility to check-in to events that take place at specific locations.

Hopefully, the developers fixed a certain bug reported several weeks ago, where the application will not let the user check in, even though the GPS app shows the correct location.

As explained by the guys over at Foursquare, the new Check-in feature for events should work smoothly on any Android compatible device:

If you’re out at a movie, concert, or sporting event, you can check in and share exactly what you’re doing. It’s great because you can easily tell your friends that you’re at the Lady Gaga concert, instead of just at the stadium. And you can see which of your friends went to see Bridesmaids, and not just that they checked in at the theater. It saves typing, makes your history more memorable, and makes your friends’ updates richer.”

In addition, the latest version of Foursquare for Android includes a new feature called “In-line” that allows image previews for users' friend lists.

Furthermore, several screens of the application have been overhauled to give them a more fresher and sharper look.

Foursquare for Android 2011.08.29 complete change log is detailed below:

- Now showing events attached to places; - Photos in-line in Friend tab; - Venue page redesign; - Checkin details page redesign. Foursquare for Android is available as a free download from Android Market and is compatible with all devices running Android 1.6 and up.
