A new version of Foursquare for Android has been made available for download for users of a handset running under Google's mobile operating system, namely version 2.0, which was announced since last week.

According to the company, the new release comes with some very appealing features, being aimed at proving itself one of the most powerful tools for sharing on Android devices.

“As we teased last week, changes were coming to Android. Today they’re here, with the launch of v. 2.0, the foursquare app becomes a more powerful tool for sharing and discovery,” the development team of the mobile software solution announced.

Some of the main changes that Android phone users should note in the new Foursquare release for their devices are related to the overall appearance and experience it can deliver.

“The first thing you’ll notice is that the whole experience has been cleaned up, with the new foursquare app clearly geared towards collecting and communicating your real-world experiences,” the development team notes.

Among these changes, we can count the fact that Tips and To-Dos are “out in the open,” offering users the possibility to share or plan events more easily that before.

The changes are meant to enable a faster access to the To-Do list, while making Foursquare more than just a simple tool that would keep track of the places one has visited.

In addition to this change, users should also find various touches of Tips and To-Dos throughout the app, in addition to having them included in the navigation bar.

“Tips and To-Dos are now out in the open, making it easy to share and plan your outings. And there are call-outs to them throughout the app, like when you check into a restaurant where your friend has left a tip,” the company announced.

Foursquare for Android 2.0 is available for download from the Android Market. Additional info on the application can be found on the company's website here.
