Adobe has just announced that the Flash Player 10.1 technology was made generally available for download from the Android Market on Google Nexus One phones. The solution can be used on handsets powered by Android 2.2 and should be delivered to more devices in the following weeks, while being set to arrive on phones running under other mobile platforms in the not too far future.

“We are pleased to announce that Flash Player 10.1 is now generally available for download on the Android Market for Google Nexus One phones. Flash Player 10.1 for Android (2.2) is now generally available as of August 16,” a recent post on Adobe's blog reads.

The company released Flash Player 10.1 to partners back in June 2010, a move that should be followed by the solution's availability on more handsets, including HTC Incredible, Samsung Galaxy S, Motorola Milestone, Droid X, Droid by Motorola, Dell Streak and others more.

However, it seems that the specific device, manufacturer, operator and the region play important roles when it comes to the availability of Flash Player 10.1 on handsets.

For the time being, Adobe mentions the following Android devices that support Flash Player 10.1:
Google Nexus One - Download from Android Market.
HTC Evo 4G - Included with the Android 2.2 update from HTC.
HTC Desire - Included with the Android 2.2 update from HTC.
DROID 2 by Motorola - Devices ship with Flash Player 10.1 preinstalled.

While the owners of Android-based mobile phones are the first to enjoy the capabilities of Adobe's Flash Player 10.1, users of other handsets should also taste the solution in a matter of months, the company announced.

DROID by Motorola and DROID X by Motorola are among the handsets that should receive Flash in the near future, the former before the end of the summer, while the later in early September, Adobe notes.

Among the mobile operating systems that should receive support for Flash in the near future, we can count webOS, BlackBerry, MeeGo and LiMo, as well as future version of Windows Phone 7. A wide range of new mobile phones should arrive with full Flash pre-installed on them.

The headline is misleading. It should say "Generally available on Android 2.2". Then you would have saved people wasting their time coming here.
