After revealing the massive news that God of War protagonist Kratos will be appearing in the upcoming Mortal Kombat fighting game, NetherRealm, its developer, Warner Bros., its publisher, and Sony, the owner of the God of War franchise, have revealed the first gameplay trailer of Kratos fighting with the other characters in the Mortal Kombat reboot.

The fighting franchise developed by NetherRealm hasn't been shy to mix up its famous fighters like Sub-Zero, Scorpion, Reptile or Raiden with other characters from different areas of entertainment, with the best example being Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe.

Now, as a special treat for the PlayStation 3 owners who will be getting the new Mortal Kombat game, the three companies mentioned above are teaming up to add Kratos as a bonus fighter in the roster of combatants.

We already saw the first reveal trailer at the end of last year, during the Video Game Awards, and now, courtesy of GameSpot, we can check out how Kratos will actually play in the new Mortal Kombat game.

Many elements were taken from the end battle of God of War III, when Kratos battled Zeus in a 2D-like environments, and it seems that the crashed temple will be Kratos' unique location in the game.

The Greek protagonist will be able to use not only his fists or legs, but also some of his trademark weapons, including the Blades of Chaos, which have attacks similar to the ones in God of War, but also things like the Bow of Apollo, the Head of Helios, the Boots of Hermes or the Nemean Cestus.

All these weapons are used in Kratos' unique attacks, which are showcased in the video below, as well as at least one of his special Fatality moves, which will be unleashed once the other fighter is sufficiently low on health.

Expect more details about Mortal Kombat and the appearance of Kratos in the game to be revealed soon, as the title is getting ready for its release for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on April 19.

Until then, enjoy the video of Kratos in Mortal Kombat below.
