Hacker geohot, who is starting to make a name for himself for releasing a very simple and fast jailbreak solution, has just released a new version of Blackra1n, the 30-second jailbreak tool. Blackra1n RC2 now supports all device models, including the newer versions of the iPhone 3GS and iPod touch. Softpedia, however, does not condone jailbreaking.

According to a report over at Cult of Mac, Blackra1n RC2 adds support for the new iPhone 3GS (reported to have a new bootROM that makes it harder to maintain a solid jailbreak) and the iPod touch 8GB. The release also fixes almost every bug present in the previous version, according to the report, and does not provide an unlock of the device – jailbreak only. The latest update on geohot’s blog has been reproduced below.

Update – RC2 is out Fixed 3G issues; Tethered jailbreak for 3.1 OOTB ipt 8GB and new 3GSes; Fixed Icy issues; Both Windows and Mac; If you used RC1 with success, no need to rerun.

Please donate, I had to go out and buy a new iPod, and you all know how much I abhor fixing bugs and incremental releases. A nice spike in the donations will let me know I did the right thing

Those who only trust the iPhone Dev Team’s tools, PwnageTool 3.1.4 currently supports all iPhone models (for both jailbreak and unlock), except for the newest version of the iPhone 3GS, as well as all iPod touch devices, except for the third-gen model (Late 2009).

Softpedia doesn't condone jailbreaking / unlocking the iPhone / iPod touch or any other device. This article has a purely informational purpose and doesn't, in any way, suggest that you should hack your Apple device. Using hacks may render your device unusable, or may reduce the quality of your experience employing the respective device. If you choose to download and install jailbreak tools, you will do so at your own risk. Unlocking / jailbreaking your iPhone / iPod touch may violate your warranty or the EULA with Apple and / or your cellular-service provider.
