14 DAY TRIAL // One of the most interesting arcade titles to appear these days was Titan Studios' Fat Princess. Set to deliver a fun, multiplayer-only experience, the game was released last week as a digital download exclusively on the PlayStation 3's online store.
But, sadly, the title wasn't quite ready to face its fans, and the online matchmaking system buckled under the pressure of too many users logging in at once and wanting the fun little game. As such, players with low ping were paired with those who recorded a big amount of lag, thus making the title almost unplayable in the competitive mode. With many players capable of playing only with AI-controlled opponents (bots), the development team went into overdrive to fix these problems.
Now, the dev team blog has a new post in which the team expresses its gratitude towards the community of Fat Princess players and promises that the problems regarding connection and lag will be fixed as soon as possible. “Thanks to all of the folks who continue to send in comments on the game. We’re thrilled to say that a huge number of people are having a great time with the game. We’ve also continued to receive some complaints about ongoing connection problems and lag.“
The fix for these problems will be released in the shortest amount of time, as it is preparing to get out of internal testing and into the testing process at Sony. The team also advises players to get out of games where they record a high latency and try to enter another, more closer to their location.
Also, this patch will fix many other problems. “We have implemented a number of fixes for previously identified problems, focusing most of our efforts on connection failures. We have already tested this patch on our own client machines, and performance appears to be dramatically improved. We are working with Sony now to get the patch into the Sony testing process as soon as possible.”
Hopefully the small game will be problem free in the near future and players will enjoy a great multiplayer experience thanks to Fat Princess.
