At SDCC 2013, Tom Hiddleston’s surprise appearance as Loki on the “Thor 2” panel turned out to be the most talked about event, boosting the actor’s popularity even more. It shouldn’t come as such a huge surprise then that his fans are rallying online to get him more time in the spotlight.

Fan pressure was so big on Marvel with the upcoming “Thor: The Dark World” that they even decided to call Tom back for reshoots, just to be able to include more Loki scenes in the film, which comes out this November.

The same fans are now asking for more: they want Loki to get his own, standalone movie and, for this purpose, they started a petition on Change.org to talk some sense into Marvel.

Right now, the petition Free Loki counts with over 12,000 signatures, with only 8,000 to go.

“The character Loki, as portrayed by Tom Hiddleston in the films “Thor,” “Thor 2,” and “The Avengers” (2012), has become one of the most recognizable and cherished film characters in recent years. Hence, we respectfully yet strongly request Marvel put into action a full-length feature film production based on the Marvel character Loki portrayed by Tom Hiddleston,” the text reads.

So far, Marvel has not responded to the petition in any way. If “Thor 2” fares well at the box office, don’t be too surprised if Loki gets his own spinoff.
