The official Facebook application for Windows Phone 7 devices has just been updated to version 2.1 and promises to fix one of the major bugs found in the previous releases.

It appears that WP7 smartphone users who downloaded and installed one of the previous versions of Facebook prevented them from seeing the pictures uploaded by their friends.

This means that one of greatest features of the application, the possibility to check out your friend's gallery of pictures didn't work correctly until now.

According to the developer, the known bug that prevented users of the application to access picture albums is no longer an issue with Facebook 2.1.

However, users that already installed the latest version of Facebook reported that they could not access pictures albums even after the update.

It looks like Facebook 2.1 for Windows Phone 7 needs to be freshly installed on a device, so that the aforementioned issue could be corrected.

Basically, users will need to uninstall any previous versions of the application and then simply install the lasted iteration.

Another method of installing Facebook 2.1, which has been reported by several users, doesn't require an uninstall and reinstall if the update does not show.

Users need to simply go to the Marketplace search for Facebook, click on it and then hit the Back button.

Simply wait for everything to load and it should say “update” where it usually says “Share.”

While this trick usually works with all applications that need to be updated, according to the feedback received, this does not work for all Windows Phone 7 users who tried to follow this procedure to update their Facebook application.

All in all, the application is still a work in progress, but the developer promises a smoother interface and faster performance once the Mango update is released.
