Electronic Arts’ FIFA team, which is currently focused on putting the finishing touches on the upcoming FIFA 13, has talked about next-generation platforms and has revealed that it has yet to encounter any performance problems on current devices like the PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360.

FIFA 13 is going to appear this September and, as always, it’s set to deliver quite a few new things in terms of gameplay, as well as sharper visuals.

We already heard a lot about its more error-prone mechanics and now David Rutter, the executive producer or FIFA 13, has revealed that his team has yet to encounter any problems with current consoles.

"For the FIFA team, we haven't got to a point where anything we've wanted to include in the game hasn't been possible. In the past when we've decided not to include something it has not been because of technological limitations,” he told CVG.

Thanks to the structure of the game’s code, adding or removing new features is quite easy, so the FIFA team isn’t confronted with performance issues on the PS3 or Xbox 360.

"So we're still doing some pretty amazing things in our game for current generation technology. We are in a great position to approach technologies in a very modular way; essentially ripping out features and adding new ones in,” Rutter added.

"All of this was possible because the way our game code is structured. So, theoretically, we could adapt to such things on more powerful systems. But it's not something we're doing at the moment."

If the studio were to actually work with more powerful consoles, Rutter predicts that some improvements will certainly be made, like higher quality crowds.

"Well I know what everyone wants us to do, which is make the crowds look good. Our crowds are not that great, but improving them is not a priority on our list of things we need to do. Having more power would probably allow us to do that as well as a number of different things, but for now we are just focused on our current project."

FIFA 13 is set to include a variety of improvements and you can expect to hear more about it as we get closer to its September launch.
