All Linux lovers worldwide, you have another reason to be happy about. This is not about a new flavor of Linux or not even about penguins but instead, we're going to talk about the FIC Neo1973 smartphone, a device that is going to run on an open-source OpenMoko platform (Linux is going mobile once again) and will be shaped like an egg (could this be a penguin egg shape?).

The first thing that will make a Linux user jump for joy when holding in his hands one of these beauties is the fact that he will be able to develop and run their own applications and will also have access to an apt-get-like command that will make the update and install of new applications as easy as pie.

The handset will have a 2.8 inch LCG ultra-high resolution touchscreen display, a Samsung S3C2410 SoC processor with an ARM9 core, 128 MB of RAM and 64 MB of Flash memory, an A-GPS capable of rendering high resolution maps, USB computer connectivity and GPRS data exchange technology, thus you will also be able to use one of these babies as a router to connect your PC to the Internet.

The pilot run is programmed to be launched sometime during the middle of December and will be available for the general public from January 2007 for a price of around 350 $.

There is one last thing one should know about this phone before going to buy it: if you reaaallly don't like Windows and Linux blood flows through your veins, then I must inform you that this one might just be the work of the devil because it can also use a Windows based operating system (if you will let it do it).
