The LG KE800 handset is perceived as the new upgraded KG800.

The Federal Communications Commission has just given the thumbs up to the LG KE800 Chocolate Platinum mobile phone by this allowing the mobile phone manufacturer to begin the necessary preparations for its imminent stateside launch. Unfortunately, due to it being a tri-band device, the phone will not be fully usable in USA, the only mobile operator that supports its CDMA version being (for now) Verizon Wireless.

Despite this fact, you will still be able to enjoy the upgraded KG800 features that the KE800 Platinum sports, starting with the new EDGE capability that its successor didn't have support for, continuing with the 2 megapixel camera with auto-focus and macro mode(twice the quality of the one residing in the first's Chocolate case) and also with the 256 MB of internal memory that has, again, doubled, a memory that is being paired with a microSD expansion card slot that will let the people that consider the built-in memory not enough for their needs to expand it as much as they desire (and the card slot is able to support if I may add).

The final improvements in this new edition of the much celebrated Chocolate series of phones are the FM radio that will offer the Platinum users the ability to listen to their favorite radio programs while on-the-go with the help of the wireless Bluetooth stereo headset and, probably one of the its nicest features, the fact that now, the Chocolate comes in a slimmer body that measures only 9.9 mm, this being a 35% cut off the KG800's original size of 15.2 mm.

On top of all these new improvements, the multimedia lovers out there will get their share of goodies because the handset is also having an integrated music player that will offer them the possibility to play several types of audio files, the MP3, AAC and WAV being some of them.

As always, after a phone gets out through the front door of the FCC facility, there is no kind of info about the release date or about its upcoming sale price, but at least, the people that reside stateside won't have very much to wait for this one because after the FCC checkout, the handset's imminent launch is almost unavoidable.
